There are some fun historic places to visit along with directions on how to find everything in the story. They have received a lot of compliments about our stories in the past so they are keeping us around. They already have stories from us about Temple Trail and Honeymoon trail that will be running in 2011. As soon as weather permits, fieldwork will begin to gather material for more stories. The season will begin exploring two trails back and forth as time and weather permit. One of them was established at a time when Mexico still claimed the territory that now makes up Utah, Arizona, and much more. It was a time when the United States of America was a new country expanding its borders and struggling to find its place in the world order. Brave Pioneers left Nauvoo, Illinois in wagons and pulling handcarts into the wilderness to settle lands west of the Rocky Mountains. |

Another trail called the San Juan Mission through Hole in the Rock will also be revisited. Much has changed concerning access to the original trail and Lone Writer will document those changes. You can keep up with where we are and what we are doing by joining Lone Riders and reading Lone Riders Tales & Trails. As the summer warms up and the mountains thaw out, a few ghost town trips will sneak into the schedule. In the past, we have invited local TV stations to ride along and some have accepted. We may do that again so if you see us on the 6 o'clock news, it will hopefully be for a good reason. When the season begins winding down around September or October, we hope to begin exploring the Butterfield Stage Route from St. Louis to San Francisco. We started it once before but quickly realized we did not have the funds to finish it. That same problem may be more than we can overcome this year. The trail is difficult to find. Much of it has been wiped out by modernization. Locating the many relay stations that were once placed an average of every ten miles, can take days to locate each one. The success or failure of this project will depend on how many people join Lone Riders and how many people with an interest in history are willing to chip in a few dollars to make it possible.
